How to remove viruses without any antivirus programs

One of the ways a virus can infect your PC is via USB / Flash drive. The common viruses such as ‘Ravmon’, ‘New Folder.exe’, ‘Orkut is banned’ etc are spreading through USB drives. Most antivirus programs can detect and even if they do, in most cases they are able to delete the file, only quarantine. Here are the things you can do if you want to remove this virus from your USB drive or hard drive. Every time you plug a USB drive in your system, you will see a window similar to the one shown below …
Do not click OK, just choose ‘Cancel’. Open the Command Prompt by typing ‘cmd‘ in Run box. In the command prompt, type the drive letter: and press Enter. Now type dir / w / a and press enter.

This will display a list of files in the Flash player or Hardisk. Check if the following files are there or not
Autorun.inf
Ravmon.exe
New Folder.exe
svchost.exe
Heap41a
or any other. exe that can be suspect.
If any of the above files are there, then probably the USB drive is infected. In the command prompt, type attrib -r -a -s -h *.* and press enter. This will remove the read-only, archive, system and hidden file attribute from all files. Now just delete the file using the command file name. Ravmon.exe example. Delete all files that are suspicious. To be on a safer side, just scan your USB drive with an updated antivirus program like McAfee and TrendMicro’s PCCillin to determine whether it is free of viruses or not. Now remove the disc and insert it again. In most cases, the real culprit appears to be the “Autorun.inf” file which mostly gets executed when someone clicks Ok in the dialog box that appears above. Thus, the infection spreads
