The
recently announced Motorola Moto Droid Turbo 2 (aka Moto X Force), which is
claimed to have the world's first shatterproof display, was put to a bit
bizarre drop test by a team at UnlockRiver.com. While drop tests are usually
performed on phones to test their durability and strength, and/or to verify the
company's claims, the way the UnlockRiver.com team conducted a drop test on the
Moto Droid Turbo 2 was a little eccentric.
The
team attached the phone to an aerial drone and let it drop from a height over
900 feet. To our surprise, not only the phone's display survived the test, but
the phone was also functioning. There was, however, some damage to the phone's
upper-left side, but it remained responsive to touch inputs even after the drop
test.
In
an exclusive interview with Live, Motorola India head Amit Boni revealed that
the the Moto X Force will soon be introduced in India in January.
The
name "Droid Turbo 2" is exclusive to the US and the same phone will
be introduced as the Moto X Force in India and other countries, he said.
The
display on the phone has been made using Motorola's new shatterproof display
technology Moto ShatterShield which is said to be an integrated system
consisting of five layers designed from materials that absorb shock from impact
and are guaranteed not to shatter.
